Justification

Multiple histories allow us to understand the future – past (Rivera Cusicanqui 2015) and thus approach cultures where knowledge built their own realities. We speak then of Industriousness of other materializations and vernacular materiality, distinct from the current civilizational crisis, an invitation to be surprised by other worlds created from other industriousness, spiritualities and symbolisms.

This roundtable table proposes to collect and recover the other practices, trades, knowledge, aesthetics and celebrations, symbolism and transformative-productive human actions outside the hegemonic design, to build a symbolic-local transformative-adaptive relationship that consolidates material culture, a legacy to learn from and welcome in sustainable, redirecting practices (Fry 2012, Fry 1999).

Objectives

• Reflect the central theme of the Conference: "the presentation of projects and experiences of practices, framed within traditions and customs, which being others, in the visual, the material, the symbolic, will also be (as stories, chronicles and ways of referring to the history of other designs), object of other histories," (Gutiérrez. A. 2021).
• Present different initiatives, projects or implementations of future-past rearticulations, polycardinals of industriousness that lead to the present through contemporary polylogues (Álvarez 2016).

In this way, the roundtable seeks to engage in polylogues both with the other ways of doing design (and with their homeomorphic equivalents (Panikkar 1967, Estermann 1998)) and with the other academies of tradition which enrich the visions. It proposes discussions and case studies of redirecting practices, recovery of ancestral technologies, technical studies, theories and recovery of oppressed and disappeared marginalized histories that contribute to the vindication of the other worlds within the world and to the visualization of other possible futures (Escobar 2019).
